Brook Trout are considered beautiful fish, but their colours may vary according to their feeding habits.
Brook trout are generally greenish brown, sometimes glittering, with red spots on their backs and heads; the belly is pink white.
Due to the typical pink colour of its flesh it has been dubbed as salmon trout.
As it inhabits colder and well-oxygenated waters, brook trout cannot be found in many areas; yet, it can be found in the west of the province of Neuquén, in the cordillera and pre-cordillera.
As for size, brook trout are generally smaller than most trout in Neuquén; seldom weighing more than 4 kg. in lakes. Best season: All fishing season.
