The Landlocked salmon is originally from the Lake Sebago; even though it was introduced at the beginning of the XXth century in several habitats, nowadays it is only possible to find it in a few of them.
Landlocked salmon is silvery in colour.
They have bluish backs and heads, black lateral spots and dark dorsal fins with blue strips.
The term 'landlocked' makes reference to this fish's behaviour in fresh waters, because when next to the sea, this species likes alternating fresh and salt water, in different moments of their lives.
It is easy to mistake it for Brown Trout, but Brook trout have a smaller mouth - the jaws do not reach the rear edge of the eye.
