Tierra del Fuego is considered one of the best -if not the best- trout fishing destinations.
These are the legendary "sea trout", rose-coloured flesh and very large size.
These strange wild salmonidae born inland are those that have accessed to salt water and its variety of food, in the wide mouths where the rivers meet the Atlantic and vice versa.
After feeding on the abundance of the sea, they return to their native streams, but turned into big monsters coveted by anglers.
The Sea Brown Trout can easily reach a dozen kilos, and in some cases reaching 18 kg (largest brown on record)
The carotene they take from seafood gives their flesh the characteristic rose or red colour.
The River Grande is one of the best rivers to catch sea brown trout. In it, 7 world records in fly-fishing have been set, after catching specimens weighing more than 14 kg.
Apart from River Grande, the most popular places are the rivers Menéndez, Ewan, Fuego, Turbio, de los Onas, Valdéz and Bombilla; the lagoons Mellizas, Pescado and Hantuk and the lakes Fagnano and Lakush.
